The EU Corporate Sustainability Directive

The European Union (EU) has now officially introduced a requirement for certain companies to report on ESG (environmental, social and governance) and sustainability matters. This now forms part of EU law from 2024 and accordingly there is a hard obligation on affected companies to comply with new ESG and sustainability disclosure rules. The scope of the new rules under CSRD will impact diamond and gemstone companies both inside the EU and outside the EU.
